Operations and incident response

Lab: run an incident tabletop

exerciseSelf-paced

Assignment

Choose three failures: expired credential, incompatible document schema, and model timeout. Provide a peer with only your runbook and synthetic logs.

Build sequence

  1. Define a workflow-level service objective and two actionable alerts.
  2. Create traces that locate each failure stage without exposing sensitive content.
  3. Time the peer’s diagnosis and recovery steps.
  4. Write a postmortem with detection, impact, recovery, and assigned follow-up work.

Acceptance checks

  • The peer can identify the correct owner and recovery action.
  • Recovery includes a representative successful task, not only a green process status.
  • Each follow-up has a specific expected improvement and verification method.

Evidence to keep

Submit the working artifact or decision document described above, the inputs used, and the observed results for every acceptance check. Include one failed attempt and the change you made after investigating it. Label fixture-based outcomes separately from live-system measurements. These artifacts become part of your final portfolio review.
